The Asia Wine Awards (AWA) 2025 concluded its judging sessions in Hong Kong from May 5 to 9. This year’s competition saw a diverse range of entries from renowned wine regions, including Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Belgium, Brazil, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Austria, China, and Chile.
This year’s competition revealed a striking shift in participation trends. White wines accounted for 38.3% of all entries—just behind red wines at 42.9%. Rosé wines made up 6.8%, and sparkling wines 12%. The surge in white wine entries highlights growing confidence among producers in Asia’s appetite for fresher, lighter styles and positions the region as a key growth market for whites.
All wines were judged blind, grouped by price, and evaluated under controlled conditions. Gold-winning wines underwent a second round of tasting to ensure consistency and quality. The judging panel included top sommeliers, importers, wine buyers, and critics from across Asia, assessing each wine for balance, aroma, taste, and drinkability—always with the Asian market in mind.
AWA continues to set the benchmark as Asia’s most respected wine competition, known for its integrity, precision, and market relevance. By recognizing wines that resonate with Asian palates, the Awards serve as a trusted guide for producers and consumers alike.
2025 marks a turning point: Asia is no longer just a growing market—it’s setting the pace.
