Following rigorous blind tasting sessions held in Hong Kong, this year’s competition saw outstanding performance across the board, with Grand Gold medals accounting for 10%, Gold medals 50%, and Silver medals 40% – marking a significant uplift in the overall quality of entries.
Wines from a diverse range of regions including Australia, New Zealand, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, China, Chile and beyond competed in the awards, highlighting Asia’s growing appeal as a key market for premium wines. The judging panel, comprising experienced sommeliers, importers, buyers and critics from across Asia, evaluated each wine on color, aroma, taste, balance, drinkability, and suitability for Asian palates and dining habits.
AWA employs a 100-point scoring system aligned with leading international critics. All wines are tasted blind and grouped by price point, with Gold and above wines undergoing a second round of evaluation to ensure fairness and consistency.
